Has your dryer ever suddenly started taking forever to dry? Sometimes, it can be a pretty simple fix that, with a little bit of preventative maintenance, could be avoided altogether. Your dryer connects to a duct in the wall, which extends out to the exterior of your house. Inside of there, all kinds of goodies get trapped: lint, loose buttons and bits of string, forgotten receipts, or even worse, lost money.

Keep your duct clean by checking it at least once a year and cleaning it out, including the ductwork that runs through your wall. If you do more frequent laundry or have a large family you wash for, checking it every six months instead of once a year might be better for you!
